Set in Stone
When in Paris, I spent many hours in Père-Lachaise and the Montmarte cemetary. I was mesmerized by the gothic architecture and stained glass windows. Most all, I was drawn to the figures that made grief physical: veiled faces, open hands, bodies suspended between mourning and protection. They stand at the threshold between the living and the dead, preserving emotion long after the people themselves are gone.
